Upon Frosted Hills

Here in these snow-bound valleys
Where the white silvery moon shines
Like phosphorescence in sapphire coves
And mossy fir trees heavy with age stand tall
Against a rose quartz sky

Here in this blue-clad land
Where the mist lie low
Against the marsh
And lakes and rivulets emerge
In the stillness
Like dewdrops on a spider’s web

Here upon these frosted hills
Where wild things grow
Like fire in dry hay
And life is but a butterfly’s wing
Against a glaciated spring

Here in these hazy green forests
Where Northern hamlets lie scattered
Like gold dust
Downhill steep slopes
And the sun dances
In amethyst twilight
Amid the white hills

Here in this audacious landscape
Even dreamers cast their nets
And moor their ships
To the echo of
Home-bound surge

  1. Lovely Trini. These photos are so nice too. Something tells me they’re not from India πŸ™‚
Look like Norway to me eh? The sun seems so close to the ground over the horizon in the third one. Are they sunrise pictures?
Hope you’re doing well with your children’s stories.

  2. I love your imagery Trini, and being born in Manitoba, all that snow reminds me of a good back-East Christmas. So thanks for the words, the pictures and for the memories. Keep on writing, say hi to Granny for me, God bless, and I’ll read you later.

  3. You use your words to paint a lovely picture, and each of your pictures adds beautiful flesh to the words of your poem. You create lasting images that put me in mind of God’s wonderful Creation, and really, what more could a person ask for? Thank-you.
