So Quiet are the Winter Nights

DSC00014

Black painted beaches bleached by snow
White-clad forests in evening glow
Twinkling lights over land and shore
oceans of rivers where sea becomes fjords.

Midnighted islands upon frosted lakes
surf against surf rises and breaks
A moonplay of shadows among twilit trees
Where coastal children build their dreams.

  1. It would be lovely if you had time to watch this video! It goes so well with the poem. It is showing norway in all its winter glory with northern lights and all! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • Absolutely stunning video! ❤ Winter in Norway = so beautiful! I dream of seeing the northern lights one day. I've glimpsed them a time or two here ever so slightly, but nothing like this. If I may share one of my most favorite videos… the first time I watched it, I cried at the beauty of it. And it too is shot in Norway… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mmwv94WKmnI
Lovely poem and photo here too, Trini! 🙂

      • I am so so happy you liked the video!! I love it too!! 🙂 🙂 Maybe I should include it in a post to share it with more people, I just have experienced that very few people actually watch the videos. But I will for sure check out the link you sent! 🙂 I love links!!! 🙂 🙂

  2. I remember once, when I was in the interior of my province, British Columbia, I witnessed the most beautiful scene I’ve ever seen. It was so beautiful it made me cry and produced such a feeling of awe and wonder. Nature has a way to do that, doesn’t it. God is the most creative of all, and what he creates is priceless.
Thank you for your beautiful reflection about your home country’s beauty Trini.
    Hope you’re well.
    Hugs.
    🙂 ❤

    • Oh, I know that feeling! 🙂 For me it is the ocean which is the most magical, and the sky in winter, when we have that beautiful golden sun so low on the horizon, making everything glow. And for me, I have always felt closer to God in nature than any hole building. For me, the ocean, the trees, the mountains are more holy than any man-made building. I love that which is pure and innocent so much! and watching wild animals, like birds wheeling in the sky, or dolphins jumping in the ocean fills me with such peace and calm and love av puts everything into perspective for me. I love the way animals surrender to life, the way they take time to sit in sing in the trees, or play, or just stare up into the sky, there is no hurry, there is nothing they need to do, they just are, with no need to control life. I think we can learn a lot from them. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Lots of Love and big hugs to you!! 🙂 ❤

      • Oh yes, very lovely Trini. We definitely can learn a lot from the animals. Like even the birds. They don’t freak out or worry. They know that they’re creator will always provide for them. And he doesn.
Love and hugs to you sweetie.
        🙂 ❤
