Her face brightened into a thousand valleys

Her face brightened into a thousand valleys
peopled by memories and secrets and I
touched her softness and told her
she was beautiful, not despite
her sorrow-stained skin, but because
of it.

  1. This poem is absolutely breathtaking! ❀ So delicate but conveying so much strength & wisdom. And that pink color of the flower is so vibrant and lovely! I love the droplets on the petals. πŸ˜€ I love when women celebrate and compliment the inner & outer beauty of one another and our own beauty.

    • I love when women do that too! We really should! All of us! 😊😊. At any age. 🌸. Thank you so much for your beautiful words! They mean a lot to me. πŸŒΈπŸ’–

    • Oh, thank you so much! I don’t know if people will get it, but the poem is kind of dedicated to mothers who have grown up daughters. I want to tell them how beautiful they all are! And that they should let us make them feel beautiful because we see our future selves mirrored in them. In my opinion women don’t stop being beautiful when they reach a certain age, the beauty just changes, becoming more graceful and mature and soft and quiet, but incredibly strong. Like something you just want to lean into to absorb some of that confidence and wisdom and grace. I wish women would be proud of and celebrate this mature much as much as they celebrate youthful beauty.

      • YES YES YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS! Thank you Trini. You expressed these thoughts so beautifully, and I am 100% on board with women everywhere appreciating themselves and other women as they age. So many women derive their sense of self from their youthful beauty, and when they age, it’s as if their self disappears. How tragic! I want to celebrate every wrinkle and every gray hair that appears, earning my wisdom and my strength, celebrating the changes. Speak the word, sister!

      • Yes! You are so right! Beauty is so many things, you know. We kind of only define it as being sexually attractive, and that is such a shallow definition of the word. Beauty is something that comes within in my opinion, and manifests itself in our faces, our eyes and our attitude, and often it only increases with age. I feel much more beautiful now than when I was 18 😊😊.
