Roots & Feet

In old Norse Sagas there is talk about the need for both roots and feet. Somewhere to belong and somewhere to explore. The Vikings thought these were primal human needs.

To me, nature; trees, ocean, mountains, are my roots, and art; music, poetry, literature, are my feet. I need them both to feel complete and fulfilled.

  1. Yes! YES! Soul sister! This is why I feel drawn to read your posts. So much of what you share resonates deeply in my soul. Thank you. ❀ ❀ ❀

  2. Oh wow this is so interesting someone referred to me as a Viking woman. I guess maybe because my family is from Finland who knows. I love that this is where you are from where the Vikings came from. That’s so wonderful. Love this Trini. Much love to you πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

    • Viking women were really strong, Even fiercely so, they were both warriors and wives, wise women and medcine women. They were very independent, and even ruled over their husbands. It changed after Christianity came to Scandinavia, and even though Christianity did a lot to change the Norse traditions for the better and stopped the plundering and raiding, it did take a lot away from women.

      • OH wow. How wonderful is this to know. I was wondering where this fighting spirit came from because no matter how much I try to stop it. I just gotta say one more thing. I like the idea of being a warrior. This is such a beautiful share Trini! I love it! I can image women from the past leaving footprints on this sand in your photo. What a beautiful thought! ❀ Wow

      • I love that thought too! Rogaland, the name of the county this beach is in, was a famous Viking kingdom 😊😊😊. Or should I say Queendom! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

      • Haha yes I love that Queendom. That feels good today! Thank you for helping me stand Trini. Your posts and comments helped me so much today in so many ways! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

      • And thank you soooo much for contributing your love and wisdom and grace to my blog! It means A LOT to me! πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

      • P.S. Trini this helped me so much in the job that I do. I have a leadership role so sometimes my tender heart stuff gets in the way. So hard to balance that. I’m coping what you share here so I can remember it. I love that so much!<3

      • Oh, thank you sooo much MichelleMarie! I know about that balance! For me, tuning in to my “wise crone”, which symbolizes the older wiser woman who advices and teaches and demands respect, is hard, perhaps I’m still too young, but it is necessary to keep her with us threw all our ages, she comes from the ageless soul, and has really nothing to do with the age of our body. I think many of us women in particular, need to learn to trust that our wisdom is true and worthy and needed, that we can speak with authority, not to suppress, but to make people listen, because what we’ve got to say is important for the world. The old crone never doubts herself because she knows her wisdom comes from her soul, from the vast eternity we all carry within us, so she speaks to the world with claimed authority.

      • Wow yes. And to not shrink back. I feel what you shared so strongly. I kept your words on my computer all day yesterday. You helped me a lot with you sage advice. I used to not be taken seriously when I was younger In My business use to frustrate me, I couldn’t wait to be older so people would listen to me. Now they do but they like to argue so my Viking side comes out with authority. I even had one author say I was magical with his manuscript so I don’t let that go to my head because next time is right round the corner. I think I’m healing from an injury physically so it takes a lot of my energy. I’m jabbering so I’ll end with God Bless you Trini and thank you! πŸ™πŸΌπŸŒΌπŸ’›πŸ’•πŸ’“πŸŒΈβ€οΈ

      • Jabber away!! 😊😊😊. I love your jabbering! πŸ’–πŸ˜„. I am so happy that you are healing and that you have your Viking heart to help you! πŸ’–. Sending you lots and lots of beautiful energy! πŸ’–πŸ•ŠπŸ’–πŸ•ŠπŸ’–. Huge hugs to you! πŸŒΈπŸ™‹πŸΌπŸŒΈ

      • AWE thank you I know I’m safe there with you! I’m happy when my heart feels safe! ❀ I wore my new back brace today and my bright orange sweater and I feel strong today for the first time in almost a year! Amen AmenπŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–You are very inspiration Trini I hope you know this! I feel it!

    • Thank you so much! The beach in the photo is where I have been going for some alone time ever since I was little. Yes! Long live the Viking spirit! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„
