Don’t lose who you are

Being able to adjust to a situation and to people around you is a great quality! In fact, Darwin’s theory of “the survival of the fittest” has been revised to “survival of the most adjustable.” However, don’t adjust so much to situations and people that you lose who you are and eventually end up being dominated by forces taking advantage of your accommodative nature.

Will you fly or will you fall?

Are you lonely or have you bloomed?
Will there grow flowers where you’ve walked?
Are you brave or are you lost?
Will you stay quiet or will you talk?
Into a sky or out to sea,
Will your petals fly or will they fall?
When roads are empty,
When the world is asleep,
Will your colors fade or
Will you walk on ?

Safely hidden

There is nothing, absolutely nothing that can take you away from yourself, unless you willingly offer it up. But even then, even then, a small part of you always remain safely hidden in your inner most being, ready to be rekindled when you get your spark back.

Carry yourself

If you can carry yourself
With the weight of your entire soul
Upon your shoulders,
You can wade through
Even the deepest river
Crossing your path;
Dry-shoed and warm
Without sacrificing a single layer
To the river wild.

Carry my Soul

Carry my soul (extract) by Numa Edema

She never took the beaten track
So she is used to life beating back.
Scars and bruises never stole her time
She knows pain and love are intertwined.
Still she says:
Don’t you worry about me, I’m strong
I see the love in your eyes and I know
That this life will carry my soul
And what it brings only time will show.

* This is a song by the Norwegian singer-songwriter Numa Edema. It sometimes feels like he wrote it for me 😊😊😊

Every Life is a Spring

Every life is a Spring,
A hopeful and fragile thing,
With heavy rains and sunny days,
Our life in every breath.
So new and curious and strange
The path is laid before us,
Yet willfully we bend and push
And leave
Our spirit in every step.
